COOL-ER ™ Firmware Update


Now and then we release new firmware upgrades for your COOL-ER that are FREE of charge! Current firmware VERSION 1.12.10-1


To complete the Firmware update you will need:
A FAT format SD card larger than 128MB but no bigger than 4GB and a program to open compressed files such as StuffIt or WinZip.
[We have compressed the firmware file to reduce the download time for you]

How to update your COOL-ER firmware


1) Backup / Copy all your content from your COOL-ER to your computer
  1. Make sure your protected files are saved in ADE
  2. Save your non-protected files to you computer as the upgrade will re-set your COOL-ER back to factory settings

2) De-authorize ADE
  1. Connect your COOL-ER to your computer via the supplied USB cable and then press Ctrl / Shift / D to de-authorize

3) Download Firmware
  1. Download the update here. [This is a large file (more than 125 MB) so, depending on your internet connection, this might take some time]
  2. Unpack / extract the zip file.
  3. Go in the directory COOLER-vfat-eb600em-0203 and copy all files you see there to the root directory of the SD card.

4) Update your COOL-ER’s firmware
[Make sure you COOL-ER is fully charged by connecting to your computer for at least 1 hour before upgrading]
  1. Connect your COOL-ER to your computer via your supplied USB cable. This will provide uninterrupted power during upgrade.
  2. Insert SD card into the SD card slot on the top edge of the COOL-ER
  3. Press and hold the Enter button (the central control wheel button) and the 3rd (from top) function key simultaneously – do not release these buttons.
  4. Press RESET, whilst still holding ENTER and 3rd function key.
  5. Wait for LED light on front of your COOL-ER to flash, then release the ENTER and 3rd function keys.
  6. Your upgrade screen will appear after several seconds, you’ll see the update progressing on screen.
  7. 'Upgrade file system' text will show 'upgrade OK' when your upgrade is complete.
  8. Finally, remove your SD card, press RESET and remove your COOL-ER from your computer and use as normal. Reload your ebooks as necessary.
Note: Next time you use ADE you will be prompted to re-authorize.
